Kate Middleton Nods to Her Daughter, Princess Charlotte, With This Timeless Hairstyle
Kate Middleton’s personal style is comprised of more than just her outfits and jewelry. Her hairstyles can send a message, too.
At one of her most recent engagements, for example, Kate added a bit of a twist to her look—literally. The future queen adopted a style that is currently particularly popular with a certain royal: her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
For her official appointment with two textile manufacturers on February 3, Kate wore her hair in a half-up, half-down style with the top section loosely pulled back and inverted. The ends fell in soft curls over her shoulders for a look that is effortless, modern, and elegant all at the same time.
Her look was rounded off with a stylish outfit: a vibrant orange coat, wide-leg pants, a green cashmere turtleneck, and gold earrings.

But the half-up look is not just a fashion trend. Rather, it’s a classic because it’s uncomplicated and versatile—characteristics that make it a popular choice for official occasions as well as everyday ones.

The hairstyle also has a very special personal meaning for the royal, as it’s her daughter Princess Charlotte’s favorite hairstyle. The 10-year-old recently wore the half-up look several times for festive occasions, from the Christmas concert in Westminster Abbey to the traditional Royal Family Lunch. Charlotte often combines the style with a cute hair bow, which gives the hairstyle a playful touch.
